Reflection…Yashieka’s Story…

What could I have done different in my situation? First, I should have let go of the situation months ago. In Tyler Perry’s “Why Did I get Married?” they talked about making a list of the good and bad things your partner has ever done in order to weigh the true value of their marriage. This method can be used for any kind of relationship. I should have weighed the good and bad and realized the glass was half empty. Here are a few quotes I selected:
- Sometimes it’s best to leave the past where it is…in the past.
- Effective communication is the key to any successful relationship.
- When someone shows you who they are, believe them the first time.
- Never make someone your priority, when they only make you an option.
Last but not least, If you don’t have a good memory please make sure you keep a journal. As you can see from my situation, Mr. Brown tried to convince me I was nothing more than someone he just kicked it with from time to time. Apparently he’s still in DENIAL or just doesn’t want to admit he was wrong. Do you think I missed anything?

I think you it on the head with those 4 points, particularly #3. Sometimes as women, we wear blinders when we venture out into relationships. We want to see the ‘good’ in someone no matter how deep we have to dig. Then we end up having a ‘moldy’ man, one that someone we allowed to grow on us and doesn’t offer any substance in return.

I live by #3 now…I’ve always been an optimist, trying to see the good in someone. It doesn’t just end with intimate relationships, it crosses over into all aspects of life. As much as we want to see the good in someone, we definitely have to take them for face value even if it means walking away from someone you love.

I HAVE TO SAY THAT NUMBER 3 IS A BIGGIE FOR ME! I FORM OPINIONS ON PEOPLE PRETTY QUICKLY… I BASE THEM ON FIRST IMPRESSIONS… AND USUALLY PEOPLE MAKE A FIRST IMPRESSION THAT IS GOOD… AFTER A WHILE I WILL SEE THINGS COME TO LIGHT THAT I NEVER WOULD HAVE EXPECTED… AND I TAKE HEED TO THE WARNINGS THAT I SEE! IF YOU THINK SOMEONE IS SHADY BECAUSE OF SOMETHING YOU HAVE SEEN THEM DO OR HEARD THEM SAY… JUST IMAGINE WHAT THEY CAN DO WHEN NO ONE IS LOOKIN… WHAT THEY REALLY THINK IN THE DARKEST RECESSES OF THEIR MINDS???
PEOPLE ARE WHO THEY ARE…
AND IT IS WHAT IT IS…
I BELIEVE IF YOU PAY ATTENTION AND YOU WILL SEE A WHOLE LOT MORE!
