HERstory .
Last weekend I also saw the emergence of someone from my past. Well, I kind of figured he would pop his head up around Christmas. Apparently, he used the Black Congressional Caucus to make “his move.”
I got a text message from him ” I know we are not talking but you should come down to the convention center, the Congressional Black Caucus is happening and Senator Obama will speak here.” Um I politely said thank you, please don’t send me anymore messages.
Background Story?
A little over a year ago, I stopped speaking to a very confused young man who couldn’t determine whether he wanted us to stay friends or become a little more than friends and see where things would take us. The decision for him and I to take it up a level was made a week before I left to NY for three months. When I got to New York, the first week I was there I didn’t hear from him. I had an event in DC and to drive back the weekend after I left DC. During the weekend, he avoided speaking and seeing me. I consider myself to be a VERY observant person, so I asked the question “What’s going on?” I think we should go back to being friends.
*Mouth dropped open*
OOOOKKKAYYYY…I agreed, and kept it moving. We still talked to each other and during one of our last conversations he made it slip why he wanted to go back to being friends. “I don’t know what you’re doing in NY, I don’t like being in a long distance relationship, and just the other day you were talking about going on a date on your myspace blog.”
WTF?
“Dude, I was in NY for a week when you decided to go back to being friends and I’m only supposed to be here for three months, plus I’m only 4 hours away! AND you said you wanted to go back to being friends so please don’t come to me about my dating blog! It was a long drawn out ordeal and then one day I snapped. I told him, as long as I breathe, never text message, call, or e-mail me again! Ask me what he does a week later? E-mails me! I will say, us stop speaking and then reconnecting has always been our thing (sh*t the story of my life).
However, when we reconnected this year (he caught me at moment of weakness) he tried to convince me we were nothing more than just friends (I swear this is the story of my life). He said we were nothing more than friends. I had to draw the line. I asked him if we weren’t friends, why did he feel the need to tell me last year that we needed to go BACK to being friends? Of course that was followed up with a Ugh, Um, we just need to leave the past in the past.
He was absolutely correct, which is why I said we can go our separate ways….and last weekend, true to form, he returned. This time I’m sticking with my guns and saying…I’m good, thanks but no thanks.
It’s too late for us…

I think I’ll send you a T-Shirt that says, “I WENT OUT WITH A GUY, KICKED HIM TO THE CURB, THEN TOOK HIM BACK, KICKED TO THE CURB SHORTLY THERE AFTER AND THEN DID IT ALL OVER AGAIN AND ALL I GOT WAS THIS LOUSY T-SHIRT!”
Granted, its going to be a very big T-Shirt if that message is to fit. No worries, we dont have to make it a shirt, a nice dress would serve the purpose nicely too. ![]()
