My National Harbor Date

Posted by EshaEsha under: Weekend Recaps .

Can someone please figure out how to add another day to my weekend? I seriously feel as though I go to sleep on a Friday night, then I wake up it’s already Monday!! This past weekend actually started on Thursday, so I guess I should be appreciative of my extra day off. After the emotionally stressful Thursday night convo with the on-again/off-again, I needed an extra day to recoup.  So I decided to play hookey from work on Friday and spend the day with the one who caused me the emotional stress, go figure.

Friday morning, I spent time getting lost trying to find my way to Reagan International airport. Thanks to crappy mapquest, I succeeded in getting lost. Luckily, I was only a few minutes late than my ETA of 11 a.m. Of course Mr. On/Again-Off/Again’s flight actually landed 20 minutes earlier than expected. When he got in the car and I smelled his cologne and saw his oh so sexy 5-o’clock shadow, I realized getting lost was definitely worth it.

We decided NOT to continue the previous night’s conversation, that addressed certain issues we’ve been throwing under the carpet for the past few months, but to just enjoy the day together and relax. Eventually, we made it back to his house to drop off his luggage and to figure out how we would spend the rest of the day. Honestly, I only had one thing on my mind, but as usual, aunt flow was in town so that was a whole lot of not happening. But I was treated to a full body massage and a hot bath in the jacuzzi. Relaxation was definitely needed. From the massage, I could feel the tension rising from my body. Eventually we fell asleep but woke up just in time to figure out what to do before rush hour.

Neither one of us felt like dealing with downtown DC traffic, so we headed to the National Harbor, to walk around and just talk. It felt like old times again as we walked down the pier and found a seat and sat there for a few hours just talking and laughing. Eventually we decided that it was time to eat, so we chose Rosa Mexicano which was having it’s opening day. The meal was excellent! I would definitely recommend it, if you’re looking for an upscale, authentic Mexican restaurant. Although I’m not normally a pork eater, I had to take a piece of his braised pork. It literally melted in my mouth!

After dinner, we couldn’t decide if we wanted to head to Outback for my favorite desert, The Chocolate Thunder From Down Under, or head over to Cake Love, which also just opened up at the National Harbor. Cake Love won my vote. They have the best cupcakes EVER! So we took home a box of four assorted cupcakes. At room temperature, they make the perfect treat, that’s if you can remind yourself not to think about the calories each one has.

The night eventually ended with us falling asleep around 9 p.m, which is quite early for the both of us. But after Thursday’s emotional roller coaster of texting, emailing and tear filled phone calls and traveling, I think both of us were drained physically and emotionally.

I checked out National Harbour … looks really romantic. I think we can safely say that was a day well spent :)

Yes, Keyshia, it was definitely time well spent! Him & I definitely don’t get much ‘quality’ time when it comes to just have a low key day.
